About Us–
Vision: A safe and alcohol-free environment for Travis County youth
Mission: To initiate proven, community-based strategies to reduce underage drinking and other risky behaviors
The Travis County Alliance for a Safer Community (the Alliance) was established in 2006 with the assistance of the Texas Department of State Health Service’s and the Travis County Sheriff’s Office. Founding members have worked diligently to form a core group of concerned community members and professionals representing diverse fields who are motivated to change the acceptance of underage and binge drinking by implementing data-driven environmental community-based prevention strategies.
The Alliance is committed to:
- Increasing community awareness around the problems associated with underage drinking
- Decreasing community tolerance of underage drinking
- Decreasing the availability to and consumption of alcohol by young people
- Increasing awareness about current laws associated with underage and binge drinking
Currently there are members representing various sectors of the community including: local law enforcement, institutes of higher education, local government, other underage drinking prevention programs, independent school district representatives, military, youth serving organizations and health care representatives.
